At first, I didn't understand the strange menus where you purchase and equip weapons but once I figured that out, it all started to make sense. Its retro aesthetic and lively-looking stages really popped and upon playing it, I became very impressed with its gameplay. I bought Jets'n'Guns because it caught my eye while browsing the Switch eShop. It may not look like much but holy heck Jets'n'Guns is fun! If you're a retro game fan then you know that there's nothing quite like a scrolling space shooter so here's Jets'n'Guns. Super Crate Box gameplay video → Jets'n'Guns Review Switch ★★★★☆ Super Crate Box has been around for a handful of years and it's still a highly enjoyable albeit simplistic arcade score chaser. That being said, it's still a very fun game and I recommend it even with its repetitive nature. It all works well but the overall gameplay gets repetitive very quickly and it's also frustrating having crates spawn in tricky spots like right underneath where the enemies emerge. However, you only earn points by collecting crates which changes your current weapon so the resulting gameplay is a frantic juggle of shooting enemies, snagging crates, and constantly having your weapon change. If they reach the bottom of the screen, they'll re-emerge more aggressive which is similar to the arcade Mario Bros. You basically control a little fellow while fending off hordes of enemies. Now that it's available for Switch, I'm quite happy that more gamers have a chance to play it. The simplistic gameplay had me hooked while trying to achieve a higher and higher score. I remember playing Super Crate Box on my Ouya about 5 years back. I love indies that feel like long-lost arcade games Gamers who prefer good old single-screen platformer shooters will thoroughly enjoy what Super Crate Box has to offer.

Bot Vice gameplay video → Super Crate Box Review Switch ★★★☆☆ If you have a fondness for shooters like Wild Guns, Bot Vice is a must-play retro-inspired indie that's sure to get your palms sweating. Just make sure you're up for a steep challenge before taking the plunge. When you factor in the lovely pixel-perfect visuals and catchy soundtrack, you're left with one well-done retro indie that I highly recommend. It all adds up to an action-packed experience that's hard to put down and each stage presents a distinct dynamic and boss to boot.

As a result, the controls are rather complex as you'll end up utilizing many of the buttons frequently in order to aim, shoot, and perform evasive moves all while swapping between temporary weapons that can really pack a punch. You basically run left and right while firing a variety of weapons and avoiding enemy projectiles via dodging, taking cover, and slashing things with a sword. Running back and forth while blasting away at enemies and avoiding fire makes for one adrenaline-fueled formula so let's play Bot Vice! v1d30chumz 78-26-147-81 Bot Vice is like Wild Guns but with even more projectilesįirst of all, Bot Vice is a very challenging game or at least I thought it was.

│ For your benefit, Video Chums doesn't indiscriminately promote press releases, Kickstarter campaigns, or industry-fed rumours. I keep finding myself drawn to old-school indie games so here are 5 recent retro titles for Switch that are impressively enjoyable.
